ABOUT
LIV THOMPSON

Films can have a drastic outcome and can help shape the way an audience perceives the world and the face of society, which personally I think is enough of an incentive to have a career in film. As of September 2021 I have been studying on a Creative Media BTEC course at Kingston College where I have learnt many skills including camera set up, legal and ethical issues in the industry, pre-production, the production process – from actual filming to lighting a scene – and post production where I learnt to edit on premiere pro, a software I am now well acquainted with. My end of year grade in 2020 was a Distinction*.
In terms of work experience, I have worked as a camera operator and assistant many times for an industry professional. The first was for a promotional Christmas clip where I operated a Sony F3 with Nikon lenses, as well as setting up Arri 600 lights and Kinoflo Divas. My next work experience shoot was an interview for the Matthew

Hackney Foundation Charity surrounding mental illness. For this, I operated a Sony Fs5 with Canon lenses and used a Sennheiser Radio Mic for the first time. The last job I did was for Caspar Craven, CEO of Big Bold Goals Ltd, who wanted to make a YouTube series about leadership. Again, I used the Sony Fs5 with Canon lenses, but this time used Bi color LED lamps. From these experiences, I gained skills with new equipment, but also how to be professional in a work environment, a transferable skill that will help me throughout my career. I would like to work on feature length films, either as a production designer or an art director/concept drawer.
